AN INTRO TO THE ENERGY CENTERS

WE ARE ALL JUST ENERGY

Embracing the understanding that our bodies are entirely made up of energy (billions and billions and billions of atoms vibrating in connection) is the mindset that best supports us when learning our Human Design. Read on for a brief introduction on the nine Energy Centers of the chart.

A MINDSET OF THE BODY AS ENERGY

To get the brain into this mindset of the body as energy, bring to mind Newton’s third law -

“For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”

- now apply this thinking to your body.

Every thought we think, word we speak, action we take is impacting our energy, creating a reaction. And that reaction is going to be different for every person based on our genetic make up, our life experiences and our view of the world. We are also constantly reacting to things outside of ourselves - our environment, the people we are in connection with, the messages we receive - all are impaction our energy at every given moment.

Our Human Design chart is our instruction manual to understanding the unique energy of our being. A guide to how it operates, how it reacts, and how to bring it into alignment.

The chart is made up of nine energy centers (an evolution of the traditional chakra system) with each carrying a different type of energy in the body. The energy of these various centers are ‘activated’ within each of us in our own unique way based on the definition of our chart. To learn the way our energy operates sets us up to create greater ease in our relationship to self, our connections with others and on the path toward our goals and desires.

A foundational element of learning your design is to build an understanding of the various types of energy that run through the system. Read on below for a brief introduction of the nine energy centers.

THE HEAD

This is the energy of inspiration. The head center is where we take in the outside world, stimulating our imagination. It can be described as a pressure center - generating a pressure to ask questions, to search for answers. It is our source of wonder.

THE AJNA

The Ajna is one of three centers of awareness, responsible for our intellectual awareness. Taking on perceptions and inspiration from the Head center, the Ajna translates them into concepts, ideas and opinions - all in preparation to be passed to the throat center for communication.

THE THROAT

The Throat center governs our communication. It is the key center of manifestation, providing us the ability to take action - on what we are feeling, thinking, creating, and learning - in order to build the life we desire and to align with the person we wish to be.

THE G

Often referred to as the Identity center, this is a center of magnetism, attracting to us love and beauty. We are designed to live out the love that we attract - which all begins with loving ourselves and embracing authenticity.

THE EGO

The Heart center governs our willpower and the ego. It is a motor center providing drive and forward motion, and is also responsible for our self-esteem and sense of worthiness in the world. It relates to the material world - how we make a living and how we fit into the collective.

THE SACRAL

The center of creative energy, fertility, sexuality - the Sacral is another motor center providing the energy of our creative life force.

THE ROOT

The Root is both a pressure center (in opposition to the head, pushing energy toward the throat for expression) and a motor center (providing us the drive to take action). It is representative of our stress - described as an adrenalized pressure, providing our momentum for living.

THE SOLAR PLEXUS

Governing our emotional and social awareness, the Solar Plexus is responsible for the energy of our feelings - our passions, desires, moods and, sensitivities. It is associated with our nervous system and internal sense of wellbeing.

THE SPLEEN

As one of three ‘awareness’ centers, the Spleen governs our most instinctual awareness - that of survival. Responsible for what we know as our intuition or instincts, the Spleen acts as our greatest protection of physical wellbeing. The Spleen center is also a source of lightness and spontaneity, as well as our driver for risk-taking.
